ANGORA DAY AT THE STATE FAIR!!!!

 http://www.nysfair.org/

 Tuesday September 1, 2009

This is a great time and if you haven’t come before, join us!  We are in the Poultry building by the duck pond, and yes it does smell, but you get used to it.  Sort of.  Anyway we do grooming, spinning, carding demos from 10 to 6, then we all go get dinner together!  There is a great response from the fairgoers and we have lots of fun.  Not to mention the food!  And shopping!   For those of you signed up, let Jack or I know when you plan on arriving and how long you are going to stay.  You don’t have to work the whole day, but we would like to schedule shifts so we are covered. We also need to know who might be able to get there early (you know I’m always late!). Bring yarn and finished items if you have them. Show off your talents and of course your bunnies.  If you will have someone at that time that needs to be sheared or plucked, bring them.  Or maybe just one who needs some brushing.  Bring your most docile; remember the public doesn’t always understand about rabbits.  We had one that plucked to the skin last year and people thought it looked sore.  Of course it wasn’t, and the bunny didn’t mind the plucking at all, but you couldn’t convince the public of that.  We want to make a good impression, so try to picture things through their eyes. Bring your friendly bunnies and lots of their favorite treats.  And let us know what you are bringing so we don’t have 8 spinning wheels and nothing else!  I’m going to bring a small rigid heddle loom and do some weaving. They have tables set up for us, but I will also bring 2 small (2x4) ones just in case.   If you have any rabbit literature that you can bring that would be good. You may want to label things with your name.  And a trick if you are bringing yarn; put it in a basket and tie each skein to the bottom.  Remember that this yarn will get lots of petting!  It will be nice and fluffy when you leave. Save room for the fried pickles!  I missed them last year.

Club Members,

Please don’t forget that all dues are due in September, so if you have not renewed your dues with Marilyn DeMarree you need to do so right away.  If you are planning on attending the Sunday Specialty Show at Grand Finals you can pay Marily then, otherwise you need to mail them to her ASAP.

Dues are:  Single - $5   2 People same address: $7   Family - $10

Also please do not forget to get me your entries for the Specialty show on October 1 in Syracuse if you have not done so already.  Email me ASAP as I am entering them now.

Remember our raffle table so that we have our usual excellent array of items for Sunday and this year we have our bottle table.  What’s that you ask?

Any bottle item:  oil, perfume, food, soda, nail polish, etc.  new and unused and unopened.  People draw for $1 a bunny and whatever number they get matches the bottle with that number its theirs!!!!  We need a minimum of 45 items.  If you have items, please email me your number so I can make sure we have enough items.  Thanks for your continuing support of our club activities.

Hope to see all of you at Grand Finals.
